To evaluate the vegetative and productive characteristics and forage utilization by livestock at different stages of Bromus tomentellus Boiss.Phonology, this experiment was carried out during five years in Kordan Rangeland of Alborz province rangelands. So starting the grazing season and livestock entering, any remaining amount of forage grazing was harvested until a month intervals, and utilization rate was determined by subtraction between harvested forage and fenced plot forage. Finally, in order to study the effect of harvest months on the production and utilization of specie under investigation in the study area, data were analyzed. In overall, the results of this study were showed that highest production was belong to third and fourth years and least production was belong to first year. The utilization changes were similar to production changes. In addition, growth and production period Bromus tomentellus Boiss.was spring. The growth and production this plant was maximum in April and then reduced in July. The forage of this plant in May and June has been strongly grazing in the study area. In July the utilization rate this plant was decreased. It seems that the complete growth stages, this species have a woody and livestock grazing has less on it. Thus reduce the amount consumed by livestock.

To find the effect of Atriplex canescens on soil chemical properties, two adjacent areas, each with and area of 1 ha, were selected in Hossein Abad Hapeshloo Shahryar. In one area it was planted Atriplex canescens in 2003 while the later one without Atriplex canescens was considered as control area. To sample soil, random- systematic method was used along 3 transects with a length of 100 m. In planting site transects were established perpendicularly on furrows were while in control site they were established parallel. Along each transect, 3 profiles were dug in initiate, medium and end points of each transect under shrubs and samples were taken from two depths (0- 30 cm and > 30 cm). Then, soil characteristics including texture, pH, Ec, Lime (CaCo3), ESP, organic mater (OM) and elements of Na, K, Ca, Mg and N were measured in laboratory. The results of this study showed that pH and Mg were significantly reduced in planting site compared of control. In addition, Na, Mg, Lime and Ca were significantly increased in planting site in comparison to control.

One of the important factors to make a balance between number of grazing livestock and grazing capacity is whether forage contains sufficient energy and protein during grazing period or not. Therefore in this study, forage quality was evaluated for important species in steppe rangelands of Changuleh located in Ilam province. To do this, samples from four species of Hammada salicornia, Salsola lanchnantha, Convolvulus oxyphyllus and Pteropyrum noeanum, those made considerable components of rangelands vegetation in the region, were collected during three phenological stages (active growth, flowering and maturating) over 2008. Then chemical compositions were determined including crude protein (CP), acid detergent fiber (ADF), dray matter digestibility (DMD) and metabolizable energy (ME). According to the results, maximum CP was obtained from Hammada salicornia in active growth stage. Crude protein component of this species was more than critical level (7%) for sheep in the maintenance condition. Also in this species, ME was in higher critical level (8 Mj/kg) compared with the other species
