According to the important role of rangeland on the exploiters of its and rangeland ecological changes in the economic and social systems, planning and decision-making to assess the current situation is the most important. In this regard, this study intends to determine the difference between experts and exploiters to examine and compare the affecting factors on the utilization of rangelands according to four priority measures including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and threats. For this purpose, the SWOT analysis was used to analyze the affecting factors on the exploitation of rangelands. Identified factors using the questionnaire set based on Likert spectrum items and AHP analysis were prioritized and compared by the pastorals and experts. The results of the comparison indicate that prioritize of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats is different between experts and stakeholders, and in some cases there is a considerable distance between experts and pastorals. The factors related to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and the threats had priority the adaptation of animal species and plant cover-weight with weight 0.117, weighing experienced pastorals resignation with weight 0.026, increase scientific studies on rangeland in research centers, the Department of Natural Resources with weight 0.185 and weighting fluctuations in livestock markets with weight 0.076 respectively.

Check dam is the most costly watershed management practice. This research was an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of individual check dams in different watersheds of Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari. 11 criteria impacting upon check dams’ individual efficiency were considered: check dam location, check dam stability, longitudinal profile fixing, check dam's coefficient of sediment storage, check dam's crest to be perpendicular to channel's axis, spillway dimensions, check dam strength, anchorage, check dams built according to channels' cross section, consistency of spillway center with stream alignment and apron length. The importance of each criterion for each check dam’s efficiency was measured using analytical hierarchy processes. 41 cement- masonry and gabion check dams constructed previously in different parts of the province were selected and were scored based on these criteria. Then by multiplying the weight of each criterion by the score each check dam received on that criterion, the distance of performance of each check dam from expected efficiency was computed. Results show that check dam's crest perpendicular to stream axis and consistency of spillway center with stream alignment averagely gained the highest score but longitudinal stream fixing and correct spillway dimensions gained the lowest score. And the location of check dams with the weight of 0.214 and apron length with the weight of 0.035 gained the highest and lowest weights, respectively. Economic assessment of check dams were done by comparing their final score in efficiency and the size of material used for that. It was revealed that small check dams constructed by consideration of designing principles showed more efficient and cost effective than huge check dams.

Rangelands are among the natural resources which have a considerable effect on environment and man’s life. Iranian rangelands mostly have poor condition and exhausted by intensive over grazing, should be utilized according to their ecological capability and land suitability. The main objective of this study is to evaluate ecological capability and land suitability of Gheshlagh dam’s watershed area-parcel A (In Kurdistan province, western Iran) to develop range management plan. Following data collection; determination of the important parameters for evaluation of rangelands environmental capability in the study area was carried out and then obtained parameters were given values based on Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Finally, the obtained values were applied to the important parameters for evaluation of rangelands environmental capability according to technique for order performance by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). The results approved that suitability of a land is classifiable for various types of land uses using MCDM methods. Also according to the results specified that the physical criteria of land have more effective than other parameters to develop range management plan. Moreover, land evaluation of study area showed that eastern parts of the watershed had higher suitability to develop range management plan.
