Throughout history, humans have harnessed the healing power of plants and animals, accumulating invaluable knowledge about their therapeutic benefits. Today, the rise in side effects of modern medicine, the urgent need for new drug discovery, and the potential loss of indigenous wisdom necessitate documenting this knowledge. This research aimed to record the traditional treatment practices of stockbreeders in eastern Gilan, Iran, relying on ethnographic methods like direct observation, participatory observation, and semi-structured interviews conducted in rural and nomadic communities. The results were classified into four sections: medicinal and edible plants, animal products, minerals, and other measures. Stockbreeders utilize 52 medicinal plants from 28 families, primarily for treating digestive, respiratory, infectious, kidney, heart, wound, and fracture ailments. Milk and its products are important for digestive, skin, and hair health. Minerals like mountain soil are used to treat kidney diseases and wounds. Quantitative analysis is crucial in studying traditional therapies and can lead to the discovery of new bioactive compounds for clinical trials. Documenting indigenous treatment methods and passing them on to future generations strengthens scientific knowledge, preserves our rich medical heritage, and provides a valuable source of treatment options.

Observing livestock grazing time in rangelands is quite important for conservation of rangelands and protecting them against degradation. This study was aimed at assessessment of factors that contribute to observing grazing time in rangelands of Kouhdasht County in Lorestan province. This study is a survey research and the statistical population is composed of nomadism pastoralists of Koohdash County. Based on Cochran formula, sample size was defined 310 persons out of 1038 pastoralists. Many different variables including socio-economic conditions of users and factors contributing to grazing management were assessed in this study. Among the econometric models, Logit Model was used in order to assess factors impacting on time management of grazing. Logit model parameters were estimated with maximum likelihood method. Coefficient of determination and accurate prediction percentage were used in order to assess the finesses of sample’s data. Results showed that there is a significant differencebetween different groups of users in terms of considering grazing time. Having winter pastures, early arrival date, and late exit of pastoralism from summer rangelands had the highest effect. Based on achieved results, when heads of families were pastoralists, households were much more dependent on rangelands as a source of livelihood. Therefore, they entered earlier to summer rangelands. Besides, those who did not have winter pastures were less inclined to care about grazing time. In this regard, if they are further supported through handy feeding, they will be motivated to observe grazing time. Kuhdasht is an active center in livestock farming. Entrance into and exit of livestock out of the rangeland leaves direct and indirect impacts upon local life. It has as well negative effects on rangeland vegetation. Defining factors that affect on livestock entrance and exit will help planners to take appropriate measures for removing problems.

Vegetation cover as the main factor affecting the water erosion plays an important role in preventingsoil loss. To this end, for better understanding the impact of vegetation cover on soil erosion andsediment yield over the major existing geological formations in the summer rangelands of Balade inthe Mazandaran province, rainfall simulation studies have been carried out using a portable rainfallsimulator. Among many geological formations across the study area, the three major lithological unitsof mica sandstone, clay and shale sandstone with coal seams of “SHEMSHAK”, structures of tuffshale and dark gray to green shale with volcanic rocks of “KARAJ” and limestone of “LAR” havebeen selected as lowly, moderately and highly resisting formations to degradation. For eachcombination of geological formation and vegetation cover (low, moderate, and high density) threesampling plots of 1x1m have been selected and rainfall simulation has been conducted over them. Foreach plot, the surface characteristics including the vegetation cover, runoff and sediment yield and soiltexture were measured. The measured data were statistically analyzed. Results showed that“SHEMSHAK”, “KARAJ” and “LAR” formations were respectively ranked from highest to lowestwith respect to the volume and weight of sediment yield. Also, there was a strong inverse relationshipbetween vegetation cover percentage and volume of runoff and sediment for all investigatedgeological formations specially in poor vegetation situation that indicate interaction effects betweenvegetation cover and type of geological formations.

Forage is the main product of rangelands. So, determining its economic value as one of the main important nonmonetary functions can help managers to improve planning and optimal utilization management of rangelands. The main purpose of this study is to estimate the economic valuation of the forage of summer rangelands in Nour-roud watershed basin in Mazandaran province. Consequently, total forage production estimated by using double method in 12 unit works. According to the heterogeneity of range forages in terms of economic and lacking organized market for transaction, have been used barely and using Replacement Cost Method (RCM). In order to homogenize the value of all forage plants, Total Digestible Nutrients (TDN) of each plant multiplied to its forage product to calculate the nutrition value of forage per rangeland unit work. According to the specified T.D.N of barely, the equivalent weight of barely, identified for each range/ha in different price scenarios (guaranteed, international and farm prices), total value of forage production calculated based on barely price. Results showed that, Forage yield equivalent to barely was estimated 276.5 kg per ha of 89826.7 usable summer rangelands. Its economic value was equivalent to 713280 Rials per hectare. Also, its average annual economic value by 3 price senarios estimated, 64.6 Milyard Rials. This amount of economic value was equal to 718900 Rials per hectare of Nour-rud rangelands. Also, the estimated forage values are only 25 percentage of total economic value of rangeland ecosystem that has been exploited as natural bequest without any investment.

This study is trying to exploitations view point and permanent management problems of rangeland to evaluate in ranches Damavand Summer Rangeland in Amol County. Statistical Society are utilizations 15 ranch that with three methods, collective property, private property and council property from rangeland utilization and randomly from among their number 88 was selected. The research tool was a questionnaire that among exploitations through direct interviews have been completed. To assess problems permanent management of rangeland in the area with pivotal effect of the structure of exploitation methods, index nine selection and with spectrum from exploitations view point and were measured. The results showed different methods on among permanent management of rangeland effect means confidence level 99 percent. Duncan comparison test showed that permanent management problems private property exploitation methods are low from exploitation methods collective property and council property. So Friedman test results showed that with the rank category index of problems permanent management of rangeland time stop livestock mid excessive pasture with average 9.23 and the number of livestock over rangeland capacity in the region with average 8.01, respectively, the uttermost rank or impacts than the other indexes on rangeland permanent management in watershed land. So with use from Kruskal Wallis test evaluated and compared each one of rangeland permanent management indexes in exploitation different methods. Generally recommended to reduce problems in watershed areas of before Projects of reform and reducing, recognizing systems, common law and the demands of exploitation more attention and emphasis management and experts.
