One of the important criteria for quality of life is the health of the watershed. Researches in this field show that in Iran, a model for assessing the health of the watershed is not prepared. So, In this study, using the statistical data of 27 years (1990-2016) 5 environmental variables in the Taleghan watershed in the province of Alborz is estimated using gene expression and Bayesian network techniques. By using the gene expression programming and the Bayesian network of each variable, the years from 1991 to 2006 selected as a training data and 2006 to 2014 as test data, and from 2014 to 2016 selected as validation period (predictive accuracy). In comparison, the estimation accuracy of the gene expression and Bayesian network, the mean correlation values of 5 variables are 0.87 and 0.78, respectively. In the case of the gene expression model, the values of the coefficient of determination in the training section were: 0.87 for discharge, sediment, 0.92, precipitation, 89.9, temperature 0.91 and evaporation 0.77, and also in the Bayesian network, the values were 0.73, 0.88, 0.78, 0.71 and 0.81. The amount of gene expression scheduling will have a high power in simulating future values, given the generation of a generation of 200,000 times. The results of this study indicate that the health state of the watershed with a score of 8 in 2016 has advanced cancer status, and according to the results of the model in 2017, it can be in the recurrence of cancer.

Sustainability is a concept that emphasizes substantially on investments conservation (natural, social and economic) toward intra-generation equity. When sustainable development is achieved an overlapping is created between ecological, economic and social classes. The goal of this study is to measure and evaluate watershed sustainability. In order to evaluate sustainability in Zidasht basin 1, an ecosystem approach has been used to create balance between three categories of economic, social and ecosystem. Selective variables were obtained by common assessment methods. The IUCN method was used to analysis and evaluate the sustainability of the study basin. By and large, two subjects of human welfare and ecosystem sustainability are dealt with within IUCN approach. Two criteria, six indices and 28 variables were measured in human welfare section and also four criteria and 10 indices and 35 variables were evaluated in ecosystem sustainability section. Above mentioned indices measurement using software Wellbeing Score has scored based on intervals 0-100.finall indices and criteria Arithmetic Mean method integration was completed and map was developed in GIS. Final scores for ecosystem and social and economic issues were derived equal to 51 and 49, respectively. Final results of this study based on the Barometer of Sustainability showed that sustainability of Zidasht 1 basin is moderate. This situation can be improved by ecosystem conservation and people life style quality enhancement.

The concept of land use transition highlights that land use change is non-linear and is associated with other societal and biophysical system changes. Land use change causes not only environmental factors like geography and topography are important, but social factors examined such as population growth or decline as well as changes in land use is a mix of economic, social and physical problems. Human societies and their environment, such as feedback, change, uncertainty and adaptation of interaction is social and biophysical changes associated with land use change is non-linear. Changes in human systems with natural systems, such as changes in land use will change. Because of insufficient factors including facilities, budget, human resources as well as time watershed operation is not applicable throughout the basin. As a result, watershed operation should be performed in the sub-basins in which is more affectionate and the risk frequency of some events such as destruction, degradation; physical and financial damage and also flooding are considerably high. In addition, due to hydrometric stations, defects or the lack of stations in some areas, some efforts have been made experts recently to assess and consequently introduce some novel and reliable methods for prioritizing on the basis of current data obtained from sub-basins features of different geographical regions. In current study, the utilization possibilities of neuro-fuzzy technique and SCS in HEC-HMS model that have different potential to examine a wide range of advantageous and disadvantageous in making various decisions were studied. To determine the prediction accuracy of these methods, the rate of flow and sediment output of Taleghan sub-basins were taken over one year. The results of these methods were then compared with the maximum two-year return period flow observations. Our results revealed that in making prioritization, neuro-fuzzy as compared with the SCS method can produce the best prediction as long as the coefficients of errors, efficiency compared to the observational data and predictions are taken into account.

Estimation of evapo-transpiration is necessary in cases such as irrigation planning, determining of evaporation of the water bodies, water balance assessment, estimation of runoff and watershed management and ecological and meteorological studies. Evapo-transpiration can be determined precisely using field measurements. However, these methods provide evapo-transpiration just for limited areas from spatial point of view. This limitation has motivated the development of using remote sensing data to evaluate evapo-transpiration over vast area. Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land (SEBAL) is a new model that has been used at different areas all over the world for estimating of evapotranspiration. Due to the fact that no written report in evapo-transpiration estimation using this algorithm in the country has been published yet, the objective of this study is to investigate the validation of revised SEBAL model in mountainous region. In this project, actual evapo-transpiration values were estimated using MODIS image data and revised SEBAL model for mountainous region in 22 different dates in 2006 in Taleghan Drainage Basin. The result showed that the correlation between estimated and measured values is significant (R2=0.88, p<0.001). Thus, MODIS image data and revised SEBAL model were able to estimate actual daily evapo-transpiration values in Taleghan Drainage Basin. Therefore this revised algorithm could recommend as suitable method for further studies in different area with variation topography.

Land use optimization is one of the suitable methods for soil conservation. The present research with objective of land use optimization for soil erosion minimization and pure income maximization was conducted in the part of Taleghan Watershed which comprises 80427.23 ha in area. To achieve this propose, area, erosion rate and net income value of each land uses according to requiring standards of each land uses area was extracted. Then, limitations and two objective functions were determined and optimization problem was solved by using ADBASE software. The results revealed that the optimization decrease 6.99 percent of erosion rate(6.28 ton/ha/year to 5.84 ton/ha/year) and 4.65 percent of pure income(118174.38 to 112681.02 million Rials). Also, the results proposed that drylands farming are changed to garden and orchard and rangelands.

Investigation of drought event has a great importance in the natural resources management and planning water resources management. In this research, the effect of the climate change on drought characteristics in northwest of Iran was investigated using the HadCM3 model under A2 scenario. The statistical downscaling was executed using SDSM 4.2.9 and observed daily precipitation, observed predictors and large-scale predictors derived from the HadCM3 model. Afterwards the SPI was calculated for different time scales of 3, 12, 24 and 48 months in the observed period of 1977-2006 and three periods of 2007-2036, 2037-2066 and 2067-2096. Obtained results show that the mean annual precipitation at the stations of Ardebil, Khoy and Oroomieh was decreased in the future periods and it was also increased at the station of Tabriz in the future period. The Ardebil station with the depletion of 97 mm (32 %) in the fourth period than the observed period has maximum rate of the depletion. The results also show that the drought occurrence with more intensity, duration and frequency can occur in the future periods. The comparison of the results between different stations shows that the Ardebil station has the most intensity of dry period in time scales of 3, 12 and 24 months based on the maximum cumulative intensity of dry periods among the stations. On the time scale of 48 months, the Oroomieh station with the cumulative intensity of -92.78, has the most intensity of dry period between the different stations.

Providing of landing use maps and detecting of land capacity are required to manage of natural resources and environment and planning of land use. On the other hand, it is necessary to detect of the human deriving forces affecting land use change. In this research, we selected Seyed mohaleh and Drasara villages in Tonekabon city. First, were provided the land use maps in 1987 and 2008 by using TM and IRS Satellite images. Second, were investigated the human deriving forces affecting land use change through survey methods. According to results of this research can state that had been destroyed much percents of forests and added residential and agricultural lands in two villages. The most important of land use changes in two villages related to the economic problems (low income) and the economic loss of agricultural activities. Recently, the most important deterrent forces of land use changes are the property market downturn and land price that can prevent of severe changes in land use through the implementation of efficient land use law and supporting of farmers and gardeners in this region. Moreover, the most important indicators in the intensification of land use changes are being a tourist area, increasing of land price and unemployment.

It is necessary to use empirical models for estimating of instantaneous peak discharge because of deficit of gauging stations in the country. Hence, at present study, two models including Artificial Neural Networks and nonlinear multivariate regression were used to predict peak discharge in Taleghan watershed. Maximum daily mean discharge and corresponding daily rainfall, one day antecedent and five days antecedent rainfall, sum of five days antecedent rainfall and monthly mean temperature were extracted in Gatehdeh, Mehran, Alizan, Joestan and Gelinak hydrological units and entered into neural network model (from upstream to downstream, respectively). The feed forward network was used with one hidden layer and back-propagation algorithm. Then, the models were trained, validated and tested in three stages. The observed and estimated peak discharges of the models were compared based on RMSE and r. The results showed that neural network has better performance than nonlinear multivariate regression.

Assessment of watershed management activities is one of the main subjects for future planning of practical projects and natural resources management. Due to the lack of any tool for assessment of watershed processes in many cases, distributed hydrological models can be useful. The purpose of this study was evaluation of watershed management activities in Kan Watershed by HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Modeling System). For this purpose, first by considering observed events, HEC-HMS model was optimized and calibrated. Then, for evaluating the effects of check dams on time of concentration, it was calculated before and after of check dam's construction by use of field observations and vegetation cover improvement was also estimated after the project. These parameters were imported to HEC-HMS to find out the effects of watershed practices and then flooding condition was simulated. For assessment purposes, peak discharge and flood volume were calculated for “before” and “after” construction conditions. Results showed that check dams as mechanical measures had low effect on time of concentration while biological practices lead to decrease in curve number with an average value of 3.1. This effects result in decrease of peak flow and flood volume meanly 21% and 11%, respectively.

The main structure of this study includes; isotopic tracer evaluation and measuring, to identify and origin of groundwater recharge, contributions determine of diffused recharge (DR) and concentrated recharge (CR) as well as determine drought and wet periods in Hashtgerd plain. The hydrochemical study which involved collection and analysis of water samples from the deep and dug wells, springs, tap water and rainwater showed that the rainwater is little source of groundwater recharge. The isotopical study aimed to determine the origin of the groundwater bodies and to offer support for the hydrochemical analysis. To achieve this purpose samples analyzed for H2 and O18 and data was quoted from literature about the isotopic composition of precipitation. The study shows that the isotopic composition during the rainy season ranges for ?O18 between -6/05 ‰ and -6/92 ‰ and for ?H2 between-45/92 ‰ and -52/27 ‰. The changes in ?O18 are correlated with those of ?H2 with R2 =0.9 that was similar to GMWL line. proving their meteoric origin. Cluster analysis supported by the Hierarchical Cluster Analyze, Chebychev and Mann-Whitney tests classified the analyzed rivers water samples into two main groups: the first cluster was included Kordan, Aqasht, Sorheh and Khor rivers. Because of the low runoff and high infiltration these rivers are recharged through groundwater. The second cluster was consisted Valian, Fashand and Hiv-shalamzar rivers. Because of the low infiltration these rivers are recharged through runoff. Cluster Analysis shows that the samples of groundwater of Hashtgerd plain were divided into three clusters. The first cluster was included west and north-east of Hashtgerd plain (Nazarabad, Hashtgerd town, Baraghan and Kordan) were recharged through surface water and rainfall. The second cluster was included north and center of Hashtgerd plain were recharged through surface and groundwater. The third cluster was included south-west and south-east of Hashtgerd plain which were recharged through groundwater. The results show that concentrated recharge (CR) supply groundwater more than diffused recharge (CR). Concentrated recharge was performed by watersheds and flood spreading. Using isotopic method, mean values of ? O18 and ? H2 in a mass-balance equation, the relative contributions of diffused recharge (DR) and concentrated recharge (CR), to groundwater were estimated to be 78 درصد and 22 درصد, respectively. According to results of this study, groundwater resource level decrease and there is a drought period in Hashtgerd plain.
